GET OVER IT! Pt. 3
“Closeness to God produces Christ-likeness.”
Have you ever felt like life was too heavy to carry? Like you’re barely holding it together — spiritually drained, emotionally stretched, and mentally exhausted?
That’s where many of us are… but Jeremiah 17 reminds us of something powerful:
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water… It does not fear when heat comes… it never fails to bear fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
Church, the goal isn’t perfection — it’s proximity. When you're planted near the Source — when your roots are deep in God's presence — no drought, no storm, no pressure can stop what God is producing in your life.
I’ve walked through some storms recently, and I can honestly say: I’m not standing because of my strength. I’m standing because I’ve stayed planted near the stream. That’s the power of grace. That’s the promise of God.
But sometimes… the thing you need to “get over” isn’t a problem — it’s you.
1. Get Over Yourself
Self-reliance feels natural — but it’s often pride in disguise. We say we trust God, but we live like we trust our plans more. Jeremiah warns that when we chase success apart from God, it eventually leaves us empty. James 4 says:
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Church, the question is: are you really plugged in to the Source, or just coasting on yesterday’s charge? Your spiritual life, like your phone, won’t last without being connected. Daily prayer, Scripture, and surrender keep you rooted.
2. Get Over Your Need for Control and Recognition
There’s only one throne, and it’s not ours. When we chase applause or try to control every outcome, we miss out on the peace that comes from letting God lead. Like kids trying to swing on their own, we often end up frustrated and off-course. But when we let our Father push from behind — that’s when momentum builds.
Ask yourself daily: “Am I living for God’s approval or people’s applause?” Let go. Tear up that paper of worries. Surrender the wheel.
3. Get Over Your Pride
Jeremiah 17:14 cries out:
“Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved.”
Pride clogs the flow of grace. Like a blocked drain, it keeps God’s love from pouring into our lives. But humility? Humility clears the way. It’s not weakness — it’s freedom.
Church, whatever’s been weighing you down… whatever you’ve been trying to carry or control — today’s the day to get over it.
Let go of pride.
Let go of control.
Let go of self-reliance.
Because when we humble ourselves, God promises to lift us up.
“Come near to God and He will come near to you.” – James 4:8
So what’s stopping you?
Let it go. Get over it. And let God take over.
